This week is one of those weeks which is very busy, with my sons first visit to school, his teacher visiting us & going to look at a nursery for my daughter, on top of all the usual stuff. Everything is scheduled in my diary & just needs to follow the (my) plan!
But a couple of hours into Monday & having woken early, my daughter has fallen asleep in the car, ruining my shopping plans.
Usually this would really frustrate me & I would have been trying to keep her awake! But I'm learning to relax & make the most of these God given interruptions.
So I'm now sat in my car with a book, parked outside my sons school, as I have half an hour til I need to collect him from his first session at school.
I've realised that If we get stressed & frustrated when things don't go to (our) plan, then we miss out on what God is talking to us about in that moment. He may be teaching us something or putting someone on our heart to pray for.
In those times when I'm waiting for something / someone to arrive, where I think 'it's too late to hoover before my guest arrives!' & I know that if I start something my delivery will arrive! I have a bible app & some blogs on my phone to read or if I have a sleeping child, then I just enjoy the silence & time to think & listen.
If we're too busy rushing from one thing to the next, then we end the day feeling stressed, exhausted & distant from God.
Taking moments (sabbaths) in our day to relax and recharge, gives us energy to do what needs to be done & probably makes us more pleasant to be around!
There will always be a 'to do' list, but does it all have to be done right now?
".... Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." (Matthew 11:30 MSG)
